Hello all,
I hope things are good for you and yours ! As promised, this is my July update on what Formula Kart has-been and will-be doing in 2004 and beyond . This is the first of many announcements you will see over the next few months. Make sure you log-on here at www.formulakart.com regularly for all the latest "FK NEWS". Also, please note that, effective immediately, my email contact has changed to info@formulakart.com .
And you will soon see, "the rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated ! ".
Since the end of the 2004 Winter Tour Carla and I have been enjoying the fruits of our labors of the last 5 years by doing some traveling. ( That's a nice way to say we needed a break ! ) Along the way we've announced some SKUSA National events, and had the distinct pleasure of announcing the Black Rock Summer Shootout event. Great people, beautiful scenery and an AWESOME facility out in Salt Lake City ! Make your plans now to attend the 2005 Summer Shootout ! It will be one not to miss ! ! Check that out at www.blackrockraceway.com . In the first week of May I FINALLY had a chance to do the 3-day Skip Barber Racing School that I booked 4 years ago ! All I'll say about that is..... if you've been considering doing a Skip Barber School, DO IT NOW ! ! It was the most fun I've had in a looooong time. Check them out at www.skipbarber.com .
But enough about the past ! Let's move on to what Formula Kart will be up to for the rest of 2004 and beyond. After a review of the current karting scene in Florida, including the schedules and participation at the different tracks and series, I have decided not to run a series of Formula Kart races this fall. I anticipate I will put together a series in the spring and fall of 2005, but after looking at the participation numbers, and talking to many of the Teams and competitors, I'm convinced Carla and I aren't the only people who need a break from the racing. SO......................
My plans for the remainder of 2004 :
Organize two Formula Kart Racing event-weekends in October.
The Sprint event-weekend to consist of a Saturday practice and qualifying and Sunday heat, pre-final and final races. Classes to include shifter, Rotax, Easy Kart and TaG Masters.
The Endurance event to consist of Saturday practice and qualifying and Sunday to include a 6 hour endurance. Classes to include TaG Senior and Junior.
I will announce the dates and locations of those event-weekends in September. As always, on-line registration will be available.

Formula Kart Racing will be promoting a Florida Winter Tour in 2005 !
At this point I can't tell you if it will be associated with any "official" sanction, but I can tell you that I've been working hard on making sure it's better than ever. We plan on continuing our 5 year tradition of providing a high level of competition, with a good value for your racing dollar. I can assure you it will be "SERIOUS FUN ! " We've already secured sponsorship for a minimum $20,000 Pro Shifter cash purse , and anticipate that number will increase as we attain more sponsorship.
As in the past, in August I will be releasing tentative dates, locations and classes for participant review and comment. At this point I anticipate we will continue the double-race-weekend format, with Shifter, Rotax, Easy Kart and TaG Masters classes. As always, I welcome your questions and comments.
